Tetrabutylammonium fluoride hydrate (also named as TBAF hydrate) is a source of fluoride ion in organic synthesis typcially used as catalyst of acylation, silylation and cleavage of silyl ether. It is also used as effective activators for electrolyte solutions developed for aluminum-air batteries.
